Michigan Teen to Carry Brother On Back for Cerebral Palsy Awareness Walk

A Michigan teenager attempting to raise awareness and money in the fight against cerebral palsy will carry his seven-year-old brother 40 miles on his back in a fundraiser walk. According to Today.com, Hunter Gandee, 14, has been carrying Braden, who has the disorder, on his back for as long as he can remember, to beaches, up and down mountains, and often just through their local grocery store. Hunter said he sees Braden as an inspiration. “Every day of his life so far has been harder than any single day of mine,” Hunter told TODAY.com. “He fights through it. He’s a trooper.” Braden reportedly supports his older brother by attending all of his wrestling matches. “He’s very special to me,” Braden said of Hunter, according to Today.com. “He always helps me out. Illinois Woman Files Lawsuit After Child Born With Shoulder and Arm Problems

According to the Madison-St. Clair Record, a woman in Illinois has filed a lawsuit against a hospital claiming that its doctors were reckless and caused irreparable damages to her newborn child. The news outlet reported that Sarah Waller filed a lawsuit against Anderson Hospital after her child Clayton became stuck during his August 2011 delivery. According to the lawsuit, Waller said that doctors at the hospital failed to estimate Clayton’s weight prior to his birth, resulting in a delayed delivery. Waller also claims that she was not offered a C-section delivery and that the excess pressure applied to Clayton during his birth resulted in permanent nerve damage in his shoulder and extreme pain. Waco Facility to Offer Services to Kids with Developmental Disabilities

According to the Waco Tribune-Herald, Baylor University and McLane Children’s Scott & White are collaborating on a new facility that will attempt to mix diagnostic, therapeutic and clinical services for kids with developmental disabilities.  The paper reported that the facility, the Baylor University Center for Developmental Disabilities, would offer services to children with autism spectrum disorder and Down syndrome, as well as other intellectual disabilities. The facility will be located at the Hillcrest MacArthur Clinic, located at 2201 MacArthur Drive in Waco. The unveiling of the facility was made as Autism Awareness Month kicked off earlier this month. The center will offer individual therapy rooms, a playroom area, small rooms for social skills work groups and a group therapy room. “[The facility] will include the Baylor Autism Resource Clinic, which provides assessments, consultations, social skills-building exercises and other support services for children with autism spectrum disorders,” the Tribune-Herald reported. “It…
