Did you know that delays during delivery could result in a baby experiencing brain damage and/or cerebral palsy? image-wheel2

Recently, a Florida jury awarded $8.4 million to the family of a boy who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy following birth complications.

According to the Gainesville Times, a jury ruled that Northeast Georgia Medical Center was negligent in its handling of the boy who was injured in 2008.

The paper reported that the boy, now 5, suffered from a delayed delivery, which required immediate resuscitation. However, a tube was not inserted into the boy’s mouth to revive him until eight minutes after he was born.

The boy now uses a wheelchair and is unable to walk or talk. Additionally, he requires a feeding tube. Keep in mind, issues like hypoxia occur when a region of the body is deprived of oxygen.

This can result in lifetime or pain and rehabilitation.
