On July 9, 2008, the families of several cerebral palsy patients filed a lawsuit against Allergan, the makers of Botox. The lawsuit claims that users were not properly informed of the dangers of Botox.

The lawsuit indicates that three people died due to off-label use of Botox. The drug has been prescribed to children in order to treat muscles spasticity due to cerebral palsy. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not approved the use of asbestos to treat cerebral palsy. In February, the FDA issued a warning about the off-label use of Botox.
