Texan Twins with Cerebral Palsy See Staying Active as Key in Overcoming Their Disability

Josh and his twin sister Jade are freshmen at Hudson High School, and like many other teenagers their age they are involved in numerous extra-curricular activities. Recently, Jade has been spending most of her time after school practicing for upcoming cheerleading tryouts, and Josh helps manage the high school’s basketball team. In their free time, Jade likes to go horseback riding and Josh has started experimenting with music production.

The Alexander twins have come a long way after being born 12 weeks prematurely, KTRE-TV reported. With Josh weighing only two pounds and seven ounces and his sister weighing in at a little over one pound at birth, doctors did not expect either of them to live past 16 weeks. Nevertheless, they are strong fighters, and seem to be able to push through anything with an energetic attitude to match.

However, the premature birth was only the beginning of their medical troubles. The now 16-year-olds were diagnosed with cerebral palsy when they were 2 years old. Cerebral palsy is a disability often caused by a lack of oxygen during birth and affects an individual’s mobility. Josh and Jade have undergone roughly 17 surgeries between them to treat the varying symptoms of cerebral palsy and to help with their movement, but they see most of their struggles as just another obstacle they will be able to overcome.

Josh explained, “If something pushes you down get back up from it.

“Just don’t give up,” Jade told KTRE. “If you have a goal, just go for it. Don’t let anybody tell you any different.”

Our firm is amazed by the strength and determination Josh and Jade have maintained through everything they have faced with their disabilities.
