The Medical Center of Arlington has chosen to implement risk prevention tools, mainly the CALM Shoulder Screen(TM) application for use with obstetrical patients whose babies are at risk for injury from shoulder dystocia.

The Medical Center of Arlington delivers over 3,700 babies annually and will be the first in Texas to implement this unique risk reduction program. The facility manages 180 hospitals in 23 states and is also the largest obstetrical delivery hospital in the North Texas Division.

Our Attorneys Help Victims of Shoulder Dystocia, Baby Brain Injuries, Cerebral Palsy and Erb’s Palsy

Shoulder dystocia occurs when the baby’s shoulder gets stuck behind the mother’s pubic bone during delivery and can lead to potentially severe complications such at brachial plexus impairment, fractured clavicle, and brain injury. These complications are responsible for some 30,000 delivery complications annually in the U.S. Shoulder dystocia always represents an emergency in the delivery room and the clinical team needs to take action in order to prevent the risk of permanent injury to the baby.

Our shoulder dystocia attorneys can help you determine if the birth injury of your child constitutes medical malpractice. If so, you may be entitled to recover monetary damages from the hospital’s insurance company.
